We’re excited to share this charming kitchen renovation our team recently completed in St. Paul, Minnesota. Before the remodel, the kitchen was small — and falling apart! The tile was falling off the edges of the countertop, and tiles were popping off the floor. The cramped size meant little room for meal prep and nonexistent storage. The homeowners resorted to storing anything that wouldn’t fit in the kitchen cabinets in a small nook that functioned as a two-seat eating area.
The goal for this remodel was to create a larger, more functional kitchen while incorporating the homeowners’ “must-haves,” which included:
- Eat-in kitchen
- Wolf range and hood fan
- Farmhouse sink
- Large pantry with room to make coffee
- Display buffet for storing bakeware and serving dishes
Bringing their vision to life involved removing the non-load-bearing wall separating the kitchen and the dining room and converting the nook into a spacious pantry. While we would love to say this remodel was smooth sailing, the mid-century home presented some challenges! To install the new range hood, we had to route the exhaust pipe across the room and out through the roof while keeping the code-required distance away from windows upstairs and downstairs. We also had to remove some subfloor to route new electrical and gas lines to a small utility space.
Challenges aside, we couldn’t be happier with this kitchen remodel. The result is truly stunning! We especially love how the custom white kitchen cabinets complement the cherry range hood and buffet. Some of our other favorite features include:

- Crackled subway tile backsplash
- Undercabinet LED lighting
- New oak flooring
