Our team recently helped the owners of this Minneapolis home give the primary bathroom a genuinely stunning transformation. Although the home had a second floor added to it before the homeowners bought it, the work in the primary bathroom was subpar at best. The heated floor had cold spots, the vanity backsplash had large caulk-filled gaps due to poor installation, the shower curb was extra tall and wide, and the tile didn’t align correctly.
The homeowners knew their primary bathroom could be better. Their project goals included:
- Fixing the heated floors
- Adding visual appeal with an updated design
- Adding extra storage space
Once demo got underway, the problems with the bathroom became even more evident. The old shower tiles came off with the simple tap of a hammer, but the same couldn’t be said for the shower bench! The bench was one big concrete block, which is not standard practice, and we had to use a jackhammer to remove it. We also discovered the heated floor didn’t work properly because the tile didn’t make contact with the electrical cables in many areas.
Challenges aside, this bathroom refresh turned out even better than we imagined! The homeowner chose a gorgeous color scheme. We love the Sea Glass painted vanity, gold hardware, and Cambria quartz vanity top! A built-in cabinet above the toilet carries over the color scheme, adding extra storage space. The bathroom has a spa-like feel with working heated floors and a walk-in tile shower featuring vertically laid subway tiles, a blue mosaic floor, a rain showerhead, and a teak bench.
