What’s Trending in Bathroom Design for 2020
Bathroom remodeling is one of the most common projects we manage for our clients. While a lot of bathroom renovation is about balancing form and function, there’s always room for playing with trends! Over the years, we’ve seen many styles come and go, but it’s still fun to see what bathroom design features are trending among our clients. Wood Tones
Lately, we’re seeing the return of natural wood tones in home remodeling projects. Natural wood accents bring incredible warmth to any room and offer a more modern bathroom design a touch of traditional style. The best part about this trend is that it plays nicely with a variety of colors and styles, which is always a win in our book!
Fun Tile Patterns and Shapes
We’ll always love the timeless look of classic white subway tile, but we’re excited to see our clients’ play with tile shapes and patterns! From hexagons and arabesques to Moroccan fish scales and diamonds, this tile trend is sure to add visual interest to your bathroom design. Better yet, these attention-grabbing shapes can be used just about anywhere. Use them as a backsplash, on shower walls, or as an accent to create a statement.
Black is the New Gray
Grey is no longer the most popular color in home design. Recently, homeowners have started leaning toward grey’s edgier cousin, black. This dark tone is popular in a range of home remodeling projects, but it’s gaining traction in bathroom remodeling too. If you’re not quite ready to go all-in on this dark hue, consider incorporating it on a smaller scale. Whether its fixtures, mirrors, vanities, or even the ceiling, this bold color packs a punch!
Vintage Callbacks
Brass and gold are back, baby! More specifically, brass and gold fixtures and hardware. While sleek black metal accents will always have a place in our hearts, we can’t help but be excited about the resurgence of warm, vintage-inspired metals. However, we’re not talking about the same gold and brass fixtures that adorned your grandparent’s bathroom! These new warm-toned fixtures are available in a variety of finishes, including satin, matte, and spun gold. Swapping out old fixtures with these beauties will add the perfect amount of depth, dimension, and luxury to your bathroom design.
Underfloor Heating
If there’s one thing us Midwesterners know, it’s cold. Underfloor heating in the bathroom is a trend we can get behind! In addition to keeping your feet warm, in-floor heating systems do an excellent job of reducing noise levels between floors. Underfloor heating is also versatile and can be used with most types of flooring, including concrete, tile, wood, or vinyl.
