8 Home Features Our Clients Wish They Had Over Quarantine

The COVID-19 quarantine is changing shape in Minnesota, and we’re ready to get out of the house a little bit more! These past six-plus weeks have been long, and it’s fair to say we’ve all been feeling a little stir crazy. With that in mind, we thought it would be fun to compile a list of home features our past clients, friends, and family mentioned having on their “wish list” while they were hunkered down at home. Check them out below!

Home Office

Over the last few weeks, many of us have been working remotely and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. While working from the kitchen table or couch sounds fine in theory, it can be distracting and uncomfortable. It’s no surprise that a home office is one of the most popular features our clients wish they had! Whether it’s an extra bedroom that doubles as a workspace or a fully decked-out home office, having a dedicated work area allows you to limit disruptions and stay focused.

Homework Station

Another home feature parents were missing during quarantine? A kid-sized study space! Much like a home office helps mom and dad stay on-track, an area devoted to homework gives kids a quiet place to learn. Better yet, it helps them (and you!) stay organized while adjusting to distance learning.

Upgraded Master Bath

It’s safe to say this time has been marked by uncertainty and stress. We could all benefit from a place to relax and unwind; an upgraded master bath is just the answer! From a spacious walk-in tile shower with a built-in bench to a soothing soaking tub, a spa-style master bath is the ultimate place to decompress.

Finished Lower Level

Spending time at home has been at an all-time high, and lower levels are the perfect multipurpose space for keeping busy. Even better? A finished basement can be customized to reflect your lifestyle. For example, a media and game room is a fun place to hang out as a family. Add a pub-style bar and a home theater system, and you’ve got a little something for everyone!

Exercise Area

With gyms closed during the stay at home order, many folks found themselves wishing they had a designated exercise area in their home. Even a small workout room with a few pieces of equipment would have been beneficial. For most people, a treadmill, bike, or elliptical combined with free weights or a weight machine is a great start.

New Appliances

While we’re all for supporting our favorite local restaurants, chances are you’ve recently spent more time in the kitchen than ever! Making meals for the family is a lot more fun when you’re working with brand-new appliances. A top of the line oven and range can speed-up cooking times, a new dishwasher takes some work out of cleanup, and an upgraded fridge can keep those huge grocery hauls more organized!

Finished Garage

A finished garage can often double as a man cave or DIY project space. Whether you like working on your car or home projects, a finished garage provides an excellent escape! Picture it now: a dedicated workbench, tool storage, and a beverage fridge to hold his favorite drinks… Top it all off with a mounted TV and some speakers; it’s no secret where he’ll be spending most of his time!

Cleaning Fairy

We all saw those Facebook posts telling us there’s no excuse for your home not to be clean during the quarantine. Let’s call that what it was, wishful thinking! Between working, parenting, and homeschooling kids, it was easy for things to fall by the wayside. If only there were a cleaning fairy to tackle all those chores, we spent the last few weeks putting off!
