A Peek at Our Remodeling Project Timeline
Planning a remodeling project can be an overwhelming experience, especially if it’s your first time. One of the biggest unknowns is just how long your project will take. Truthfully, a remodeling project timeline often comes with many variables and can depend on the remodeling contractor you hire. At J. Carsten, we try to make the remodeling process as simple and streamlined as possible. If you’re curious to see what our typical project timeline and process looks like, we’ve got you covered! Keep reading to learn about the five steps of partnering with J.Carsten Remodeling for your renvoation.
Step #1: Complimentary Consultation
Every great project starts with a solid plan. With that in mind, J. Carsten Remodeling offers a complimentary consultation to talk about your project. At that time, you’ll meet with Jason to discuss what you’re envisioning for your remodel. This gives everyone a better idea of project expectations, what can or can’t be done, and an estimated budget.
Step #2: The Design Phase
After deciding to move forward with your project, we’ll enter the design phase. How long this step takes depends on the size of the project. Smaller projects typically require 4-6 weeks while larger projects often require 2-3 months.
Before getting started, you’ll sign the Design & Planning Services contract and pay the project retainer. During the design phase, Jason will ask questions about the existing space and any pain points in the design. He will also ask about must-haves for the new space, as well as any other elements you’d like to have if the budget allows.
After taking photos and measurements, Jason will draw up your existing floor plan and begin designing your new space. Usually, you will have 2-3 different layouts to choose from when Jason meets with you to review the 3D design and proposed scope of work. Once you’ve settled on a layout, Jason will work on fine-tuning the design and you’ll begin working on selections.
Step #3: Contract Signing & Scheduling
Once the details of the project (design, budget, and selections) have been finalized, the contract is signed and the project deposit is paid. After that, we can begin scheduling your project with our trade partners. In most cases, we will need approximately 30 days to get on their schedules. During this step, we will provide you with a tentative calendar that outlines the construction timeline.
Step #4: Construction Starts
When it comes to the construction phase of your remodeling project, the time frame depends on the type of project. Master bathroom remodels tend to take anywhere from 5-7 weeks while kitchen remodels take 7-9 weeks unless we are moving a load-bearing wall which can take longer. For new additions, we estimate anywhere from 2-4 months. However, the timeline can vary depending on the size and complexity of the addition. In some cases, unexpected issues may cause delays in the timeline but we will be sure to notify you of any changes as they happen.
Step #5: Post Construction
Just because your remodeling project is complete, doesn’t mean we’ll leave you high and dry! At J. Carsten Remodeling, we pride ourselves on using the best products and materials.
